Oct 19, 2021 - 7:30pm Tue 19th Oct
Blenheim Room, New Plymouth International Hotel, 220 Courtenay Street, New Plymouth
Kerry Beveridge, our guest speaker has had his moments as a landlord. A tenant once punched him and broke his jaw! Kerry is “a full time investor, handyman, general fire fighter, problem fixer”. Born and raised in Canterbury and apart from a few years in the UK, Timaru is where I call home with my wife and two kids.
“I have been investing since 2007, I have made lots of mistakes but some things have worked out well in the end. I have been the chairperson for South Canterbury PIA for more years than I care to count and have been on the NZPIF national exec since 2018. Housing people and saving old buildings are my passion.”
Kerry will talk about his investment journey but focus more on the last few years – boarding houses and adapting to the market. He has two boarding houses and is currently converting a 6 flat building into a 12-bed.
Geeks on Wheels
Lexi Murrant, the GOW marketing coordinator and James Church the local technician, will talk about how to extend your WiFi signal and make it stronger, even through concrete walls. Investors will learn more about smart, efficient technology and the right devices. Installing and teaching about smart home tech is their speciality.
I think it could be a great way for us to show investors how important it is to get your home setup with efficient tech and the right devices. Smart home tech is our speciality and there are a number of things that can help you around the house that we can help you install and teach you about. Things like smart TV’s, security cameras and google home hubs. Not only this but having a strong WiFi connection is essential in the modern age and we can talk about how to extend WiFi across larger houses, even through concrete walls with Deccos. Something I think a lot of people buying property should know about.
Primo Broadband
Callum Glennie of Primo will discuss getting the Internet to your investment property the easy way, whether it is in the town or the country. Callum says: “We pioneered wireless technology and now offer Ultra-Fast Fibre where available, and our local help desk team and technicians offer full, fast backup to keep the data flowing smoothly.”
