TPIA October Monthly Meeting Commercial Investing

Topic: Investing in Commercial Property

What’s it all about?

Learn the ins and outs, ups and downs, pros and cons from our panel of experts.

NEW VENUE: Plymouth International Hotel, Tuesday October 20, doors open 7:15, please be seated by 7:30pm

We have an expert panel comprising of consultant Benet Carroll (Colliers International), lawyer Will Downey (Goodwill Law) and investor Steve Robinson.

Evening generously sponsored by: Juffermans Surveyors Ltd.

Steve will explain why and how he selected his three commercial retail purchases, the relationship he enjoys with his tenants, and the returns for all parties.

Bio: Steve Robinson paid down his mortgage and found himself in a position where he could invest in property and boost his financial income for his family and his retirement. He has a mix of properties and will speak on the advantages of owning commercial property.

Benet and Will between them will aim to cover aspects such as prospecting, commercial vs residential, seismic rating, raising finance, zoning, syndication, insurance, repairs and maintenance and lease terms.

Benet Carroll has worked for Colliers International since 2005 and specialises in investment sales. He has a Degree in Property Valuation and Management from Massey University and has practiced as a commercial and residential property valuer in Wellington and New Plymouth. He worked in the Colliers International Wellington commercial valuation department before transferring to the brokerage team in 2007, where he shifted his focus to industrial investment sales.

Benet led the Industrial team in Wellington and was one of the top brokers in the office with a sales volume of over $50 million in 2010. In 2018 he established the Colliers New Plymouth office.

From partnership in a large regional law firm, to founding Goodwill Law in 2019, Will has represented private, commercial and publicly listed corporate energy clients for nearly 10 years. Will has shifted his focus to ensuring Goodwill Law represents a modern-day lean legal service provider prioritizing both client experience and staff wellbeing. Goodwill Law practices in the following areas: property, commercial, corporate, rural, insolvency, forestry.

When not surfing, Will is usually spending time with his wife and two boys, or (when the stars align) playing golf, or relaxing with friends.
