Reluctantly because this event is mainly to acknowledge the importance of our vast membership and to cement the bonds between you and us.
We may instead opt to have a mid-winter Christmas dinner as part of one of our monthly events at the Plymouth International. We’ll consider this at our January planning meeting and get back to you later.
There are several reasons for the cancellation: only two committee members were available to attend and they did not include Colin Comber, whose Trivia Quiz has become a key part of the evening’s fun; a minimum of 20 diners are required to qualify for the $54 per head set menu; and it is always a challenge to get a commitment from 20 people at this busy time of year.
A poll of exec members was taken and they were unanimous that the Gusto event should be cancelled this time, for reasons stated.
It’s been a disrupted year due to Covid but we stayed focused and managed to have some stimulating guest speakers, and made an important change of venue to the Plymouth Hotel.
We look forward to seeing you at the Plymouth on Tuesday November 17 when our guest speaker is Sharon Cullwick, NZPIF executive officer.
I thank everyone for their support during the past 12 months and wish you all a safe and happy festive season.
