New Plymouth District Council - A closer look at the 10 year district plan

Topic: New Plymouth District Council - A closer look at the 10 year District Plan

Our guest speakers are from the NPDC where we will have a presentation on the 10 year District Plan.

How do you really feel about paying another $231 on your council rates bill next year? And then another 6% after that for 9 years.

Whether you own investment property or not, this could be your best chance to get answers from council officers and some elected people, about the draft long term plan, which is due to become operative in July and they will answer questions.

It’s the biggest budget the council has ever grappled with and includes things like $16m on full-scale water metering, $40m on a multi-sports hub, $26m to extend the walk/cycleway to Waitara. But it’s mostly about catching up with historic under-spending on the basics: about $248 million.

Some charges will increase and there’ll be cuts, like $400k from the art gallery budget.

You can also hear about council’s energy efficient homes subsidies scheme.
